2024-05-18Estes Thunderhawk Flight Roared off the pad and I lost sight of it. Others had it in view and called a separation. Turns out the ejection pulled the eye out of the nose cone. Ended up retrieving the body, parachute and nose cone separately. I will repair it. - C18W-4 - Muncie AMA Field [More]
Rocketarium Blue J Flight Rocket really zips off the pad with the C18. Nice flight. - C18W-4 - Muncie AMA Field [More]
Loc Scout Flight I had a 3-pack of E11J-5 reloads for the RMS 24/40 case. They were manufactured in 1997 but I decided to try them out. A copperhead and Sure Fire ignitor failed to light the engine, although I got one chuff from the Sure Fire. Another club member gave me a twiggy and it lit the motor but there ... [More]
Estes Pro Series II Sahara Flight Started west off the pad and had a high arching flight. This kept the altitude below what was simmed. Also led to a fairly long recovery walk. Still a good maiden flight. I had to strip off the motor label t get the F67 in the motor tube. - F67-6 - Muncie AMA Field [More]

2024-04-21Custom Freestyle Flight Great flight but got much more altitude than I expected. 2nd rocket in a row to drift into the trees. After losing two in a row, I called it a day. - B6-4 - Ft. Harrison - Indy [More]
Aggressor Aerospace Shavit Flight Wobbled just a bit on the way up, but still a good flight. Has a lot of nose weight to counter the tiny fins but flew okay. I think a Quest D will really be good for this rocket. - C5-3 - Ft. Harrison - Indy [More]
Starlight Saber Flight Wind cocked just a bit. Spun all the way up. Nice maiden flight. A young boy picked this one out. Bless his heart, he recovered all my rockets today. - B6-4 - Ft. Harrison - Indy [More]
Estes Mini Mean Machine Flight Nice and straight. Probably got close to the simulated altitude. Recovered well on a 9" chute. - A10-3 - Ft. Harrison - Indy [More]
Radical Rocketry Little Boy Atom Bomb Flight This one was a crowd favorite. 5 second was way too long a delay. 3 would be much better. Chute deployed about 20' from crashing. I think an E12-4 will be about right. - D12-5 - Ft. Harrison - Indy [More]
Estes X-16 Flight Maiden flight and last flight. Altitude seemed higher than 337 and I could only watch as it drifted into the trees. This took some effort to build and losing it on the first flight hurt. - B6-4 - Ft. Harrison - Indy [More]
2024-01-06Estes Pro Series II Panavia (clone) (Kit) Review Estes Pro Series II Panavia (clone) The Panavia was a kit that was available briefly via the Estes web site. It was composed of left over parts from other Pro Series II kits. The Panavia used the same fins as the Argent. The Estes kits are almost never seen, but clone kits are available from Bad ... [More]
2023-10-22New Way Squareros (Kit) Review New Way Squareros A relatively new addition to the New Way group of square rockets. They may be square but they fly great. The standard finish makes a great looking pseudo-missile rocket. New Way doesn't give construction ratings but I would say this is a 1 and would make a good first kit. As is ... [More]
2020-07-27Estes Starbird (Kit) Review
I'm always keeping an eye on eBay for out-of-production kits. About a year ago I spotted an Estes Starbird kit. It had been opened, which must have hurt interest as I was the only bidder. All parts were accounted for and I was happy for my good fortune. While essentially a ... [More]
